BELLAGIO AND THE CENTRAL LAKE (2 HOURS)
We begin the Bellagio itinerary in front of the Grand Hotel Serbelloni, where the totem shows us some images of films shot in this village, such as A Moment, a Life by Sidney Pollack, with Al Pacino. We take a tour of the picturesque village, whose views appeared in the unpublished boat race immortalized by the Lumières in 1896-97 and preserved at the Cineteca Nazionale in Rome, then up to the Lungolago Europa, where, in front of the former Hotel de la Grande Bretagne, Annie Girardot and Renato Salvatori fell in love in fiction, but also in reality, shooting the film Rocco and His Brothers by Luchino Visconti, in 1960. Some scenes of Once Upon a Time in America by Sergio Leone, with Robert De Niro, were filmed in Bellagio, as well as the scene of Vanessa Redgrave’s bath at the Lido di Bellagio, in the film A Month by the Lake by John Irving. By shuttle boat or private motorboat we set sail for Menaggio, on the opposite shore, where part of a rather successful Italian comedy was filmed, My Best Enemy, with Carlo Verdone, and The Worst Week of My Life, with Fabio De Luigi and Cristiana Capotondi. We get back on the boat to reach Lenno, where Dino Risi filmed some scenes of Una vita difficile in Piazza XI febbraio and on the lakeside, with Alberto Sordi, a partisan here in a dramatic role. From Lenno we finally go up to the hamlet of Giulino di Mezzegra, where Carlo Lizzani filmed the scenes of the execution of Benito Mussolini and Claretta Petacci, in his film Mussolini ultimo atto.
