Vallemaggia – Force of Nature

At a Swiss and European level, the Vallemaggia valley floor is the only low-altitude, large-scale valley that has remained largely unchanged over time, especially in its fluvial component. It therefore constitutes a rare, exemplary, grandiose natural landscape. A fascinating territory, where the dynamics of high waters annually create different natural areas with high landscape, natural and leisure value. In just 15 km there are over 600 plant species, which corresponds to approximately a quarter of the Swiss flora. At the Cantine di Maggia, you will climb the mountainside to the Cappella della Pioda. It houses the oldest frescoes in the valley. From here you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the serpentine Maggia river. You will then follow the banks of the river to Lodano and Moghegno where a visit to the peat bogs awaits you.
