The Mesolcina – San Vittore and Cama Caves

In San Vittore we visit the Moesano Museum, which illustrates the peasant life of our ancestors. It also hosts a section dedicated to archaeology, as well as a permanent exhibition on the “Magistri moesani” artists such as architects, stucco workers, bricklayers who have written an important chapter of our history. The Collegiate Church, dedicated to San Giovanni and San Vittore, hosts a true Carolingian Treasure. In Cama, we take a nice walk through the nucleus of the 46 private grotti, typical Ticino structures with a very interesting history. Stone buildings buried under a boulder or built between large boulders, which served families as a refrigeration cell by exploiting the fresh air coming from underground that was in contact with underground water currents.
