Bavona Valley – Open-air Museum

The Bavona Valley, nestled between the mountains behind Lake Maggiore, is an integral part of the culture of Ticino, of its pastoral life, as well as its history of emigration to California, Australia and other distant places. A valley without electricity, where the small villages, with stone houses close together, present themselves as a true open-air museum. A beautiful walk, on historic paths along the valley floor allows us to discover a characteristic, unique architecture, dictated by survival, but in perfect harmony with the natural environment. A lunch in a “grotto”, a singular Ticino environment, introduces us to the typical local gastronomy.
