Bellinzona – Castelgrande, Montebello, Sasso Corbaro

A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the three magnificent castles of Bellinzona and their walls are the only examples still existing in the Alpine region of defensive military architecture dating back to the Middle Ages. We start from Castelgrande, the most imposing, and discover the importance and strategic reason for its position. On foot we continue uphill to the Castello di Montebello, evocative and very particular from an architectural point of view. Still uphill, we reach Sasso Corbaro, the smallest of the three castles, which dominates with its mass the Bellinzona plain between the mountains and Lake Maggiore. We walk back down to the historic center. This tour is suitable for active people who are used to walking. Suitable equipment is mandatory. The tour can also be adapted to families with children, with the help of the Artù Train.
