Sacred and Profane between the mountains and the lake

SACRED AND PROFANE BETWEEN MOUNTAINS AND LAKE: THE SACRED MOUNTAIN OF OSSUCCIO AND THE VILLA DEL BALBIANELLO (7 HOURS)

In the morning, walk up to the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Soccorso, through the evocative path of fourteen baroque chapels, culminating in the Temple of Mary. In the afternoon, board a private motorboat, heading for Villa del Balbianello, defined by Stendhal as “the most beautiful place in Italy”.

The itinerary takes place between Ossuccio and Lenno, on the western shore of Lake Como. As we walk up along the path of the fourteen baroque chapels of the Sacro Monte di Ossuccio, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, each curve reveals ever-changing landscapes. Once we reach the 15th chapel, the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Soccorso, our gaze embraces a vast panorama, which ranges from the olive trees of the zoca de l’oli to the Isola Comacina, to the promontory of Bellagio and the Grigne of the Dolomites. In the afternoon, from the lakeside of Lenno we embark on a private motorboat for the Villa del Balbianello, a unique and magical place on Lake Como, with a fascinating history, today owned by the FAI, often chosen as a location for successful films, such as Star Wars or 007 Casino Royale, by great directors from all over the world.
