COMO AND THE ROMANESQUE BASILICA OF S. ABBONDIO (2 HOURS)
The cultural itinerary includes a detailed visit to the Basilica of S. Abbondio and the historic center of Como.
The visit begins in front of the façade of the beautiful Basilica of S. Abbondio, dating back to the year 1000, in pure Romanesque style. Apparently elementary, when you cross the threshold, it appears in all the wise balance of the three dimensions. We are struck by the height, the length of the choir, the five naves and the crowding of columns, the sumptuous fourteenth-century fresco of the apse, the atmosphere that invites meditation. Inside and outside, the skilled stonecutters of the area, the Magistri Cumacini, have used their wise work with notable mastery. The itinerary ends with a visit to the historic center.
